Our solutions
The creation of a new business is based on strong qualities, like imagination, technical skills, market knowledge, dynamism and obstinacy.
These qualities are sufficient in the first stage, however when starting to market products, management skills become necessary (organization, project management, financial control). The founders may not have enough past experience for that.
Fontenay Operating Partner enables executives to move beyond the first stage and engage the company in a fast and well controlled growth.
Base case
Base line
Several capital investors have trusted a team of high-level engineers, working in both France and the US, to develop innovative equipment for telecom networks. The products are now ready to be marketed and promising contacts have been established with several major equipment manufacturers, both in France and the USA. However, industrialization is lagging, which not only weakens the company but also creates tensions between the founders.
The offer of Fontenay Operating Partner
Following an operational analysis carried out in a few weeks, the business plan is reviewed with the management. One of the partners of FONTENAY Operating Partner takes, the position of General Manager under the authority of the President, for:
• Managing a two-fold industrial project: industrialization and product launch on the one hand, machinery acquisition and site preparation on the other hand,
• Putting in place management controls,
• Making the board of directors efficient by clarifying the responsibilities of each member and accustoming them to work in a well-structured organization.
Results
The plan was implemented within the planned schedule, and the first results were achieved in line with the objectives. In particular, the first products have been launched both from the manufacturing and marketing view points, while respecting the budget initially set. The turnover took off and the mission was completed in 6 months with the arrival of the new managing director.
